Just in time for the Light + Building 2024, we present our new sustainable diffuser containing post-consumer recycled plastics in combination with a Biomass Balance Approach. From 3 to 8 March 2024, the international trade in Frankfurt will focus on lighting trends in all their facets, the electrification and digitalization of home and building service technology, and connected security technology.

Surface Treatment

PET Recycling

Under the Chemetall brand, we offer customized solutions that protect surfaces against corrosion, improve the adhesion of coatings and facilitate the forming and processing of substrates. Our innovative cleaning solutions for washing and wastewater treatment plants do not only improve the safety, but also the life cycle assessment of PET recycling processes. That leads up to 20 percent less energy consumption, wastewater and costs.

Surface Treatment

Oxsilan^®

Oxsilan^®is an eco-friendly and multi-metal pretreatment solution. The innovative thin-film technology is used for the pretreatment of car bodies, the automotive component industry as well as the appliance and construction industries. It is a state-of-the-art nickel-free alternative to the conventional zinc-phosphating process. The technology offers a high level of corrosion protection and optimal coating pretreatment with lower process costs.

Integrated Process II

We continuously work to optimize coating processes. One example is the Integrated Process II. With this technology, a waterborne basecoat system consisting of two individual components additionally assumes all functions of the primer. This allows a complete coating step to be eliminated, including the baking process, without negatively impacting the final color or the properties of the coating. The Integrated Process II reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 20 percent.

With the CathoGuard^® 800 series, we are one of the market leaders in e-coat products that stand out for their high performance and eco-friendliness. CathoGuard 800 RE for instance combines the advantages of CathoGuard 800 with an optimized consumption and enhanced process efficiency. Moreover, it enables the reduction of wastewater and use of fresh water. We also offer solutions that meet the upcoming requirements of electric vehicles, enabling future mobility.

PrimeCube^®

PrimeCube^® is a new technology of BASF’s Coatings division for coating truck cabins. It combines an ultra high-solid primer, “Prime Block”, with an ultra high-solid topcoat, “ColorPrime”, which are applied wet on wet. Therefore, the primer oven can be skipped leading to significant energy savings. The wet on wet application also enables the production to apply both materials with a single robot. Overall, this lean process is a perfect match with the box concept and allows for a highly flexible production with less investments.

28 years after bringing the first waterborne basecoat system on the market, BASF’s Coatings division has yet again revolutionized the automotive refinish industry. With the paint lines R-M AGILIS and Glasurit 100 Line, we have launched one of the eco-friendliest automotive refinish coatings on the global market. Its fast and efficient application creates far lower CO₂ emissions than any other paint system.

Directly to metal

A new BASF Coatings filler system allows body shops to apply the primer filler directly to metal in a single step. The system combines the outstanding corrosion protection properties of the epoxy technology with the superb application properties of 2K HS primer fillers and offers a foundation that can be easily sanded for high-quality refinishing. In this way, body shops not only save material, they can also skip an entire application step.

Antibacterial Paint

Suvinil^® is BASF’s decorative paints brand in Brazil. Suvinil has further strengthened its role as a pioneer with a new antibacterial paint that is ideal for settings demanding high standards of cleanliness such as hospitals, schools and pediatric clinics and to protect your home. It is available in a wide range of colors. Suvinil Acrylic Antibacterial eliminates 99 percent of the microorganisms on the surface of any interior wall and prevents them from returning for two years. It can be washed without compromising the effect.
