BASF Coatings' next generations of clearcoats employ the company’s unique ChemCycling® technology. The product lines, manufactured using recycled feedstock, are marketed under the premium refinish brands Glasurit® and R-M®.

Biomassed refinish products in Asia-Pacific

BASF's Coatings introduces a new portfolio of eco-efficient clearcoats and undercoats for the Asia-Pacific refinish market under its Glasurit® and R-M® brands. With BASF's biomass balance approach (BMB), the manufacturing process effectively reduces CO2 emissions by replacing fossil feedstock with renewable raw materials.

2022

Renewable raw materials 

The BMW Group was the first carmaker to place its trust in more sustainable automotive OEM coatings certified according to BASF’s biomass balance approach. The BMW Group has chosen to use BASF Coatings’ CathoGuard® 800 ReSource e-coat at its plants in Leipzig, Germany, and Rosslyn, South Africa, and the iGloss® matt ReSource clearcoat throughout Europe.

25 years of waterborne basecoats

BASF Coatings is the first paint manufacturer to launch the production of waterborne basecoats. At the paint line at the Opel plant in Bochum, the first cars were coated with the environmentally friendly technology.
