High-tech no thicker than a human hair

Comprising just a tenth of a millimeter, all four layers of automotive coatings are no thicker than a human hair. Nevertheless, the surface has to be resistant to high stress. This makes automotive coatings a technologically demanding and complex product. 

For years, a vehicle’s surface will be exposed to rain, UV radiation, heat and cold, gravel from the road and the brushes at the car wash. To ensure that the car survives these stresses unscathed, we offer innovative technologies and solutions for all coating layers, both for the car body as well as the plastic add-on parts.

As the top layer of the automotive paint system, the clearcoat provides an effective protection against harmful outside influences. At the same time, it’s the layer that helps the car to shine.
The basecoat turns the car into a colorful product. Except for the shape, no other factor influences the way a vehicle is perceived as much as its color. From basic shades to complex effects – the possibilities for innovative color concepts are almost limitless.
The primer levels out irregularities and evens the surface. As a result, it provides the ideal base for the application of the basecoat color. The primer also protects the e-coat against UV radiation and guards the car from stone chips.
The e-coat protects the surface, edges and cavities of a car body from corrosion. In combination with the pre-treatment process, it provides the base for applying subsequent paint layers.
