Work with us – career and cooperation

In the Digital Incubation Unit (DIU) at BASF Coatings, you will learn what it means to combine the best of both worlds: the exploratory, agile mindset of a startup with the expertise and network of a global corporation.

  You want to collaborate?

Career at the DIU

At the DIU, we are constantly looking for extraordinary, talented people who want to drive digital innovations with us. Are you known for your agile, digital mindset? Do you have a passion for creating new things? You’ve come to the right place!

Before joining the DIU as a full-time employee, I worked as a working student on a wide variety of venture projects and also provided strategic support. The international team constellation and diversified work inspired me from the very beginning! For me, it is the open feedback culture, the support for my professional development as well as the great working environment near the port in Münster that distinguish DIU.

Partnerships & Growth, DIU Münster

I completed the on-the-job phase of my dual studies course in the DIU. My toolbox was filled with Design Thinking, Lean Startup, Scrum and agile work! For me, it was the first time to work in this type of environment and believe me: I have never learned so much about business model innovation, startup agility and our company’s ecosystem in such a short time. Thank you!

Dual student

My first impression of the DIU: unique startup vibe in a large company. The DIU instills a sense of ownership that I am allowed and encouraged to draw the business model canvas from scratch. I am lucky to work with like-minded people, creating new products and solutions here. Even more special: our Taco Tuesdays.

Collaborations and partnerships with the DIU

We look to strong partnerships and networks with which we can drive digital innovations together. External perspectives are incorporated into our developments from an early stage.

As part of the startup scene both inside and outside BASF, we are in constant contact with other digital units, startups, universities and institutes. We attend events and pitches to discover the latest trends early and to network.

Corporate innovation units
We are in regular contact with like-minded units at international companies. Sharing success stories and failures, helps us to learn from and with one another.
Universities & institutions
Our partnerships with universities in our region are especially important to us. What makes this collaboration so valuable is the professional combination of theory and practice. We maintain close contact in the form of innovation challenges and guest lectures.
Startups
Part of our work is screening the market for young companies that are strategically close to our projects and ventures. This can result in various forms of collaboration and exchange.
We are delighted to be a long-term partner of DIU Shanghai, sharing customer-centric mindsets and together practicing design thinking in many digital projects and daily work. Looking forward to more fruitful collaboration!
